Saturday party RAFFLE :: January 26, 2006.

ALOHA GUILDERS! Remember, at our Hula Day Party on Saturday there
will be a RAFFLE. Our founding member and "official" Fairy
Godmother, Lettie Connell Schubert, has donated juicy prizes.

1. A new black on red 'Bunraku, National Puppet Theatre of Japan'
tee shirt.
2. An adorable large English Sheepdog mouth puppet.
3. i pupi-ceramic figure of winged knight in a wooden and glass
display case made in Italy and signed by the artist.
4. A fox head mask, mounted as a sculpture, rumored to be from the
Bil Baird Workshop.
5. A framed print of Punchinello, duplicate of one raffled off last year.

SO REMEMBER TO BRING YOUR CASH AND CHECKBOOKS! Coconuts are not
legal tender in this state.

* Lettie has always been so generous. She is sad that she cannot
attend our party, not only because she gave her muumuu away, but
because of health reasons. Can someone please bring a video camera
and shoot some footage so she can enjoy our Hula Day too?*

Thanks,
Elisheva

SFBAPG party decor request :: January 23, 2006.

Elisheva Hart and I are collecting decorations for the annual SFBAPG Holiday Party. We had a strand of small white lights (house lights for Christmas), but they walked away all by themselves. Does anyone have a strand of white lights we could borrow for the party?

Don't miss the 6-foot inflatable palm tree! (With coconuts, thank you.) Don't miss the fish net full of wonderful sea creatures, and the rubber duckies in Hawaiian shirts! PLUS a free imitation-silk lei for everyone!

Be there, or be square.

Guild Meeting and Party, January 28th :: January 18, 2006.

The San Francisco Bay Area Puppeteers Guild is having it's annual
January "holiday" party and get together on January 28th at Fort Mason
room C370, 5pm to 10pm. (Note the room change.)

Events include
The exciting performance of "Cirque du Cafe", from Magical Moonshine
Theatre, that brings to life a host of unusual circus acts to the big
table.

The Mystery Potluck. Will there be anything Vegan there? Will it all
be desserts? Who knows, because YOU bring the food in this highly
interactive food-a-bration.

The eerie and elusive Gift Exchange. Bring a gift under $10 and walk
away with something, um interesting?

The Fabulous Raffle of Death (I made that part up, it's a standard
raffle of puppetry related things).

Fun for all and yes you can bring a friend, but also bring some sort of
food (your friend does not count as a food item).

Write me if you need more information.
An invitation is coming on Friday or Saturday.

SFBAPG members! Heed the call!

REGISTER NOW FOR THE BI-REGIONAL PACIFIC NORTHWEST / PACIFIC SOUTHWEST PUPPETRY FESTIVAL!

Where: University of Puget Sound (near Tacoma, WA)
When: August 4-7, 2006

It is exciting to attend a regional festival. BUT it's even more exciting to attend a festival in the Pacific Northwest. Besides seeing great performances, and enjoying interesting workshops, while you are here, you will be able to take advantage of the many attractions in the area. Here are just a few:

* Mount Rainier can be seen in all it's glory and is near enough for a side trip.
* A visit to Mt. St. Helens, a few miles south of Tacoma/Seattle, provides a fascinating picture of the awesome volcanic eruption of a few years ago.
* Ferry rides can take you to the Olympic Peninsula and the rain forest.
* In several hours you can be in Canada, Victoria by Victoria Clipper or Vancouver by train, bus, or car.
* Tacoma's Pt. Defiance Park has both an Aquarium and a Zoo.
* Tacoma Glass Museum exhibits artist Chihuly's work, among others.
* Tacoma History Museum. Seattle Art Museum. Seattle's Museum of History and Industry.
* World famous Tillicum Village -- Salmon bake, cruise, and show. A glimpse into the culture of the Northwest Coast Native Americans. The boat departs for Blake Island from Pier 55 in Seattle several times a day.

Registration forms and more information are on the web site at www.muchadoaboutpuppets.org

A personal note from Mary Decker: The organizers of this festival need to give a huge deposit to the University very soon. THEY NEED YOUR HELP. Please register now and your money will be used for much needed seed money.

Decorations & raffle items needed for party :: January 04, 2006.

Saturday, January 28 is the big Hula-Day Party for the SFBAPG!

Elisheva Hart and I are working on decorations and we would like to ask for your help. Do you have any Hawaiian / tropical / Polynesian decor that might spice up the room? So far, we have decorative lights, Hawaiian leis, grass table skirts, a big fishnet, lobsters, a couple snakes, vines with large flowers on them and a 6-foot inflatable palm tree (complete with coconuts). We need fish and other sealife (puppets?). Any parrot or macaw puppets?

Also, do you have any cool, groovy raffle items to contribute?

Please contact Mary Decker: marydeck earthlink dot net or 650-361-131O.

Earthquake show request :: January 03, 2006.

I would be very ahppy to work with a puppeteer on an earthquake safety show per the CA Academy of Sciences' request. I taught community emergency response training for San Jose for three years (until the budget ate my job!), and I have built a lot of scenery and many puppet stages. Writing and sets would be easy. However, I am not actually a performing puppeteer, so if any of you are interested, let me know.

And I bet we take the show to a lot more places than just at the Academy of Sciences, too.
