Puppeteer seeking work in Northern California :: October 25, 2005.

I am a puppeteer, currently living in Los Angeles and seeking puppet-related work in the Bay Area so that I can relocate up north. I have marionette performing and building experience, as well as strong writing, design, website management and administrative skills.
My puppetry experience follows: two seasons performing the Bob Baker Marionettes traveling Christmas show (each run lasted approximately one month with 25 shows each); 3 week intensive marionette building course in Prage, the Czech Republic. I am seeking puppet-related work in any capacity, be it administrative, performing, building or a combination thereof. Resume and references are available upon
request. Please contact:

SFBAPG meeting this Saturday :: October 19, 2005.

Next Guild meeting is Saturday, October 22 from 5:00 to 7:30 p.m. at the Gate House in Fort Mason. (As you come into the Fort Mason complex, the Gate House is immediately to the right.)

'Tis an October theme. The theme be pirates. Come dressed as one, or bring a puppet and dress it as a pirate, or a parrot, or skull-and-crossbones. Come say, "Aargh" to Janaki Ranpura's "Lovesick Sea Play" at 5:30!

Janaki re-creates the atmosphere of 19th-century Atlantic piracy through shadow puppets, manipulated objects, and the sounds of the audience. Follow Sue as she drowns in pursuit of Billy the Pyrate and then resurfaces as an Island in the Sea. Track Billy as he jumps ship to avoid love and washes ashore a Strange Island pocked with treacherous holes where he finds unexpected treasure. And there's more!

The SFBAPG business meeting will take place before the show, from 5:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Items on the agenda are Alan Cook's airline ticket reimbursement, state of groups, and a dramatic reading by the guild president. Who'd want to miss that?

DRACULA DEL LOBO

BUENOS AIRES, 1927 - Mina and her lovely companion, Lucia, are sent by Mina's father to his brother's coca plantation in the country where they will be protected from the "corruption of evil" that pervades the youth culture in the city. But there lurks even greater danger, an evil descended from the original conquistadors' blood lust, evil in the form of the strangely handsome and debonair Count Dracula del Lobo. But as his power grows over them they also find a seductive power of their own.

An original paper theatre production by the internationally acclaimed Little Blue Moon Theatre (Guild members Michael & Valerie Nelson), with original artwork and text. Also playing "The Widow" and "Shaft of the Mummy," an artful evening of Halloween fun.
