I happen to notice this job offer on the PofA notice board and thought our
local Bay Area puppeteers might want to know about it. The company's
website is http://www.zanzibarpuppets.com/index.html - They may have
already found the performers they want, but in any case, guild members can
see what one company is doing in the the Bay Area. I do not know the work of this company nor am I recommending it (for that reason.) While the backgrounds of the many persons working on this play look impressive, any company proporting to produce a puppet production of this apparent scope and scale (and budget) that does not require that their performers be experienced puppeteers raises a red flag for me. (Isn't it kind of like putting together a band and saying musical experience would be a plus but not a requirement?) So, if you are interested, approach at your own risk.

The Notice:

Zanzibar Fairytale Puppet Theater Located in Oakland, CA is looking for
puppeteers for its new rod puppet production of *Cinderella*. Experience
with puppets is not essential; however a genuine interest and enthusiasm in
puppets is. A background in theater is a big plus. We are looking to hire
people on a "per-show" basis that are very dependable, with since of musical
timing and that can comfortably lift 50pd. One member of show team will need
to drive a 10 ft. van and must have a valid CA drivers license that person
is paid $25 more. We offer a competitive per-show salary. However we do not
pay for rehearsals. *Cinderella* will premiere on *May 15th thru the 18th*.
The compensation for these performances is still undecided. You must be
willing to sign a hold harmless agreement. The show uses full lighting and
sound, and we are also looking to hire a lighting and sound tech. We seek
