Pirate Puppet Show in Napa

On Sunday, July 23 the internationally acclaimed Magical Moonshine Theatre will present their newest puppet show "Chester's Pirate Adventure" at Studio Arts Napa Valley, 2931 Solano Ave, Napa, at 3:00 PM, with an additional show at 4:00 pm should the 3:00 show fill up. This performance is suitable for ages 3 years and up. Tickets are $8.00 at the door. In this delightfully whimsical hand puppet romp, Chester's dog Rolf decides to become a pirate and drags Chester off on a pirate ship to search for buried treasure on the high seas (and under the high seas in Chester's homemade diving suit!) Will they find the hidden treasure? And what will it be? Landlubbers and sailors alike are welcome to come and find out. Magical Moonshine Theatre with Steve Ventrello in Cirque du Café

Friday, August 11, 7 PM --$25/$15

Magical Moonshine Theatre brings big thrills with their tiny circus to the Opera House Café Theatre during Cirque du Café. Set under the "little top," a circus tent built on a special table, Cirque du Café features MMT's take on familiar circus acts, including the parade of the elepots (tea pots become elephants), acrobats (do not miss the Cordials of Steel and the Flying Olivas), and Signore Pepperoni, the pizza cutter unicyclist, performing feats of mystery on miniature equipment. Other acts unique to the café circus include a performance by Madame Omelet, the egg tamer. Opening for Cirque du Café is Paper Pyramid*, a group of puppet acrobats "torn from the headlines!" Paper Pyramid is a troupe of young puppeteers trained by Magical Moonshine, in the workshop below, who will perform feats of daring with puppets they've created from newspaper and tape! Live music for both programs provided by Steve Ventrello, French musette accordion virtuoso.

Wed., August 9 & Thurs., August 10, 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., Café Theatre --$50 inclusive fee (workshops and ticket to the 7 p.m. show on Fri., August 11)

Workshop participants will team up with Michael and Valerie Nelson, 25 year veterans of Magical Moonshine, to create large scale puppets that can perform various circus acts. Participants will take home their creations when the workshop is over. During the workshops, circus acts will be written and rehearsed, culminating in a performance at 2 p.m. on Thursday for the participant's families. The workshop group, dubbed "Paper Pyramid" will also perform on Friday, August 11 as part of the Magical Moonshine show. Space is limited to 14 children, between the ages of 10 to 15.
