Salary: $17.48 to $21.23
*A Puppet Theater Coordinator is responsible for
supervising staff of four to five puppeteers in
the daily performance of puppet shows for park
guests, projects and other duties; conducts
performance appraisals for puppeteer staff;
coordinates and initiates the development of new
puppet shows for in-park and outreach
performances; works with staff in the creation of
story lines, puppets, scenery and props and
recording of puppet shows; develops, coordinates
and supervises puppetry workshops, programs and
events; maintains a safe and clean work
environment in the puppet theater; and assists
with cash handling and fee collection.
This classification is represented by the
Municipal Employees Federation (MEF) Local 101.
Desirable Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess the most
desirable combination of training, skills and
experience, as demonstrated in past and current
employment history. Desirable experience,
knowledge and skills for this position include:
Knowledge of the principles and practices of supervision
Knowledge of puppet theatre productions and
presentations, set and prop building, puppet
construction and design and safe practices and
safe practices and procedures in public
presentations.
Ability to supervise, train and assign employees and volunteers.
Ability to oversee puppet theatre operations and presentations.
Ability to develop and maintain effective working
relationships with the public, staff and
volunteers
Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
Minimum Qualifications
Any combination of training and experience equivalent to the following:
Education: Successful completion of two (2) years
of college course work from an accredited college
or university in Theater Arts, Drama or related
field.
Experience: Two (2) years of experience as a puppeteer.
License/Certificate: Possession of a valid California driver's license.
Acceptable Substitutions: A Bachelor's degree
from an accredited college or university in
theatre arts or drama can substitute for the
required education and experience: or two years
as a puppeteer can substitute for the required
education.
